Box Hill, December Last Year

Hi!

I've recently been sorting through my old posts, decluttering some of the pointless or boring ones from all the way back. This blog has been such a journey - it's astonishing how much I've changed since its start in 2013!

And finally, after this very long hiatus, I'm ready to carry on producing new, and hopefully better, content. Those posts that I had planned at the end of last year are coming. Embarrassingly late, but what's new, eh?

For today, I've rediscovered some photos from a trip to Box Hill that I made last year on the 30th December. It was a family and friends hike, where I tagged along to help walk Patch, my friend's dog. It was a typical overcast day, so everything is grey and dull, a complete contrast to the sunny weather we've been having in the UK recently!

Anyway, enjoy! Don't let the grey clouds bring you down too much...

More Flowers.

So, here we are again. Are you sick of flowers yet?

I went back to Richmond Park's Isabella Plantation in mid-May, which is when these photos were taken (and forgotten about!). They were definitely not as beautiful as they were in April, but the bees and ducklings that had appeared were a lovely change from the previous BAM-you'll-be-seeing-flowers-in-your-sleep-and-you-can't-escape-it landscape.

Cropped

I did these ages ago, right after I uploaded the previous Bluebells in the Woods post, though for some strange reason, I decided to leave them here in drafts.

Silly me...

Anyhow, I've been playing around with Photoshop a bit more recently and came up with these versions of some of my photos. Just a bit of cropping, nothing much, but the effect it gives is pretty cool, I think.

Bluebells in the Woods

Here's a little throwback, back to the warm evening on the 29th April when I went into the woods.

It wasn't that dramatic, I'm just a little bored right now and have only my own imagination to entertain me ;)
Anyway, this was more than three months ago, time is flying too fast! I took some photos that day but was too busy at the time to sort through them, so here we are, months later.

On a side note, I finally watched Into the Woods a few days back. It was okay, but not as awesome as I had expected. I'd heard quite a lot of good things about it from friends, so maybe my expectations were too high - the whole concept of intertwining stories was really cool, but the actual plot was a bit meh for me. Too many parts that didn't quite fit in with the story as seamlessly as they should've.

The trip was really just to see the bluebells, which were lovely, albeit a little sparse and withered. Should've gone earlier...

I've been really into cool angles in my photography. There's something about seeing a normal landscape or object from a different angle, like from right next to the ground, that I find so fascinating. Of course, cue the strange stares coming your way as you're crouching in the most awkward places...

Greece Adventures Day 3 (1/7/17): Akrotiri & Hello Naxos

Day 3 was a chill one, spent mainly travelling and eating. The best things in life.

We spent the morning exploring Akrotiri, an archaeological site in the south of Santorini. It used to be a Bronze Age settlement, which was destroyed by a volcanic eruption around 1627 BC and was preserved due to the volcanic ash. It was alright, but me being me, and disinterested in just about anything historical, I got a little bored... If you like seeing these sorts of things, it's a great site to check out though!

At noon, we hopped onto our ferry that took us from Santorini to Naxos. It was a large fancy ship that looked too expensive for the price we paid for the tickets, but we weren't complaining! The journey took roughly two hours, so we spent that time trying to figure out what horrible incident happened based on randomly generated words from a ghost hunting app, involving a cliff, coin, guilt, about six different people, and a dog.

We gave up in the end.

And this tragic tale will haunt our lives forever.

(Just kidding!)

And here we are, welcome to Naxos! I have to admit, I loved our time in Naxos more than in Santorini. There were fewer tourists in Naxos as it's a lesser-known island, and we spent more time having fun and eating out. Naxos has some wonderful beaches too, unlike Santorini's rocky cliff faces.

We stayed at the Kallisti Studios, which had the most beautiful rooms. Each one had a different theme, and the furniture and design of each room were so cute and fit together so harmoniously.

Practicality was a little lacking (why is there no stool at the vanity?! I had to squat every time I wanted to check myself in the mirror!), and the A.C wasn't in the most sensible spot. There was a large built-in wardrobe directly below it, meaning that the air didn't circulate as it should've and even with the A.C turned on, we still had an uncomfortably hot room. Nonetheless, the other room we had on the ground floor was fine, so I assume the 2nd-floor room (above) was a one-off.

Our first sit-down, proper meal of the holiday was at the Antamoma Restaurant, a very highly-rated restaurant in Naxos town which had gorgeous views of the sunset.

Yes, more sunset photos. Who doesn't like sunset photos?

I would highly recommend the seafood orzo, it was an absolutely delicious dish served in such a stunning way. There were little dots of sauce around the plate of orzo and prawns balanced neatly in the centre. You know it's going to be a good plate of food when they serve it with dots!
