Best Birthday

Christmas countdown: 2 days!

I'm so excited!!

♥

Hiya!

I had a pyjama party yesterday for my (and my friend's) birthday, and it was amazing!

We went to Nando's first for lunch (though not in our pyjamas, they probably would've kicked us out!), then went over to my friend's house to open presents. And they are the best!

Someone handmade for me a little mochi plushy, and another gave me a bangle with a quote from The Song of Achilles engraved on it. All my presents were so lovely and well thought out - you can't find better friends than mine!

We then watched Home Alone, which I had never seen before. Shocking, I know. Thing is, I don't really like older films and classics, I much prefer recent ones such as Arthur Christmas and Nativity (both of which I have watched recently in the build-up to Christmas). It's a good film though, very funny and cute.

After we played charades and lounged around, too full from the chocolate fountain, crisps, and ice-cream we'd eaten :D

It was so fun, every part of the day.

♥

I love you

Merry Christmas, ya filthy animal!

#TheQueue

Hiya!

I went to Wimbledon last week (for the tennis, of course) with my friends!

I know I'm so late with uploading, but I just never had the chance to properly sit down and write about it, and then later I did more stuff so it got pushed back even more.

Anyway, it was really exciting, though we queued from 3 pm to 6:30 pm, of which two whole hours was spent in the glaring sun (I got a sticker to prove it!). We stuck out umbrellas and annoyed everyone around us by poking them in their backs every time we moved. The pastas we had bought for dinner also exploded, so there was oil and tomato sauce everywhere. It was a mess.

Once we got in, we checked out some of the open courts which we didn't need to queue for, but us being short, we couldn't really see anything.

So then we went to court 3, where Madison Keys was playing against Stefanie Voegele. It was good, quite close, though I think Keys was a tad more powerful and so ended up winning. Sadly I didn't watch the end, as their match went on until almost 10 pm, so had to be suspended until the next day or whenever.

On a side note, the ball girls and boys are so cute! They're adorably stiff and emotionless but as soon as they need to move they're so quick!

We finished off our trip by going to Henman Hill briefly, where we awkwardly sat between the legs of those sitting on the picnic tables on either side.

Wimbledon was fun. Maybe not the queuing, but I guess that was just part of the experience. We got a feel for the 'atmosphere', sat on Henman Hill and walked alongside thousands to the train station at the end of the day.

❤️

I love y'all

Goodbye!

Birthday Celebrations and Peterborough Adventures

Hiya!

The next few posts are going to be in a strange order. I've got events from over two weeks ago to write about (and most probably bore you with), but if I do them in chronological order I won't be able to talk to you about the most recent stuff, which I feel are the most important. It makes me think we can connect more if I talk about things that happened a few hours ago rather than a few weeks ago... I don't know, it might just be me.

But I do want to tell you about my past weeks because they've been really fun and exciting. Though at this rate, with all this blabbering, I won't even be able to finish this post...

Today is my friend's birthday! We celebrated yesterday by shopping and having dinner in a restaurant which played We Are Young four times in 2 1/2 hours. Good song, but a bit too much maybe?

Though the restaurant's obsession with that song was nothing compared to the 'classiness'  of our eating. We had straws in wine glasses, knives in sundaes, and the remaining content of our mocktails tipped into various empty bowls to try to reach the blueberries.

We were dining like cavemen. Thank goodness there was no one around except the waitress, even though I think it was us ourselves who were responsible for keeping the people away.

Anyway, as well as it being my friend's birthday, I also went to Peterborough today with my parents. Just a day trip, adventuring in another city. The journey was long and not so pleasant, to be honest.  There was an incident with our train tickets and a couple of terribly rude men, which nearly resulted in us having to turn back. But we didn't do anything wrong, so whatever.

In Peterborough, we did loads of shopping, had dinner in Pizza Express and explored the city's cathedral. We weren't allowed inside, but it was really pretty from the outside regardless.

Annoying scaffolding >:(

Just added this in for the wonky window /=/=/=/

It's late now and I'm tired so...

I love y'all

ENROLLING AT HOGWARTS!

Yummy!

"I can teach you how to bottle fame, brew glory, even stopper death..." - Professor Snape

Pink ribbons and bows and frills and feathers - it's definitely Snape ;)

Not a very good photo but the middle one made me laugh at its absurdity...

It looks worse than it actually was - I wasn't being greedy, we were just a very big group of 9!

Terrible quality, I'm ashamed to even say I took this photo, but I just love the colours and patterns

The Knight Bus and the Wooden Bridge

Five Nights at Freddy's, anyone? To be honest, this terrified me.

Well.

A paper model of Hogwarts

Just thought I'd say, the little paper people are less than 1 cm tall...

♥

Hiya!

If you haven't gathered already from the title and photos, I got into Hogwarts! I can now proudly say that I'm a witch, and I will follow in the footsteps of Voldemort to become the most powerful witch in the world. Muggles, watch out!

I'm only kidding! ...Or not - I could be double bluffing - I'm not supposed to tell muggles about us wizards and witches anyway...

Nah. Though I'm still waiting for my letter to arrive, I did not go to Hogwarts, I only went to the wondrous Harry Potter Studio Tour. It was such fun - I went with my friend and we drank butterbeer and saw the Hogwarts express at 'Platform 9 ¾'.

After spending hours in the tour, we went for a quick dinner (it was very late) at McDonald's. Fancy, I know, but still yummy. I hadn't eaten at McDonald's in a long time. By the time I got home, it was 11:30 pm and I was so very tired. I had been too excited during the tour and I guess the energy just ran out...

But this was two days ago - yesterday I just spent sleeping in and resting, no excuse for not writing anything really. I'm terribly sorry and annoyed with myself.

I'm here now, though, finally...

♥

I love y'all, and goodbye!

CHINESE HOTPOT AND WATER PARK FUN! (25/08/2014)

Hey! When was the last time I uploaded something? I can't even remember.

So, as I said aeons ago, my little life in China was fairly plain, and nothing happened, most the time. However, there was this one day, a faded memory now... I'm kidding, I do remember it quite clearly, and it isn't as dramatically ancient as I made it seem. There was one day where I had quite a lot of fun. Back in China, I usually just stayed with my dad, or with the oldest of my two cousins, and her kids. This day, was the day it all changed.

No! Stop trying (and failing) to be dramatic!

This specific day in a period of unspecific days, I had lunch with some very distant relatives. I'm not exactly sure what to call them, but apparently, they were my dad's brother's wife's brother's family.

Are you confused? Me too.

We had Chinese hotpot, something which there's a lot of in China (duh!) in a little shack-like restaurant. The beautiful walls were decorated with cracks and the silk threads of silver spider webs.

That's sibilance for you!

Even though it wasn't a five-star rating restaurant, the food was pretty good. And it's hotpot, so what can I say? All my favourite foods dumped into a steaming pot in front of me...mmm...

This was also the first time I had ever tried Chinese milk. To all you people who live in China, I would like to say... "HOW ON EARTH CAN YOU DRINK THIS?!"
And to all those who are now curious as to what the milk tastes like and may want to try it, I say to you, "NO! PLEASE DON'T!"
It's truly the most disgusting milk I've ever had in my entire life. I've never had curdled milk before, but in my imagination, it's sour, kinda thick in places, and warm (for some reason). And that's how Chinese milk tastes like. And no, the milk hadn't curdled. I, of course, did not drink any more of that ('iste', on behalf of Cicero, and his persecution of Verres) for the rest of my stay in China.

Randomly, after finishing the lunch, I then went to a water park with my other cousin, the one-I-don't-usually-spend-that-much-time-with-cousin, and also the daughter of the family I had lunch with.

I had to buy a new swimsuit too, as I didn't bring any from home, so that was...different. Did you know, that Chinese swimsuits ALL come with padded bras? They're all under-wired, and with massive pads in the already padded cups. I swear, they turned my meagre size A cup into frickin C cups or something! Not that I would ever know how big a C cup is :-(

The water park itself was small, but great fun, mainly because we didn't care about anything, there was no-one to impress, and we just did whatever we wanted without any other thought. I think it was actually for little kids aged 4-8 or something, and I think us three girls were the only teenagers there. No, scrap that, we were probably the only ones there over the age of 10, excluding the parents who were there with their kids. As embarrassing as it was being pushed down a water slide by a 6-year-old, it was still tons of fun. On the biggest slide there, which the other girl and myself had to force my cousin to get on, we went down together, holding hands, one after another in a train. We took turns being at the front, and honestly, I could live there if I was allowed to.

Except the water was brown from filth and there were dead bugs everywhere. Killing the moment for myself, it's what I do best!

Finally, it was getting late, and so we went on the giant slide one more time, before leaving to have a shower. Public showers in China...where everyone literally just strips butt-naked with no dignity what-so-ever. Being British born and bred, I was...very uncomfortable. And I am not saying any more, it was a traumatic experience.

I came out of the showers as quickly as possible, changed into my clothes as if I had not even taken them off, and literally ran outside and up a slight hill where I was supposed to wait. Whilst there, I was greeted by a surprisingly nice view of the water park, the river which runs its way through the place in China where I was staying, and a gorgeous sunset. As it was getting dark, the lights in the water park were on, and a few little food vendors were making various Chinese snacks. The sunset made everything a sort of red-orange colour. It was beautiful, I was sad that I didn't have my camera with me.

And it's sad that I'm sounding like an old granny reminiscing over events that happened five thousand years ago.

Anyways, I really have to hurry now...I've spent so long writing this!

When at last I got back home (AKA my grandma's house) we went on our usual little night-time walk by the river. I love how everyone there knows each other, and how friendly the people there are. The sad thing about living in the city is that you don't take the time to get to know people, I don't know anyone on my street except my neighbours...let alone being friends with them all. I hardly know the people who live opposite my bedroom window!

So, getting back to the night-time walks: let me set the scene for you...

It's night, not too late, around nine or ten pm, and the street which is right next to the river, though slightly above, is half-filled with the families who live in the area. From the lit up street, you can walk just a few metres down a paved slope until you reach the bank of the river, where there aren't any lights.

But that's irrelevant.

The street itself extends for quite a while, but halfway down the street, there's a circular area where there's no pavement, just the road, and a huge permanent metal sound system. Every night, music blares through those speakers, and couples dance around in the circular area, or sit and chat with friends. This is the central hub, it's not a large place, but it's certainly the most crowded.

The street, however, is not only for pedestrians. Large vehicles such as cars and anything bigger can't get in, but bikes, motorbikes, and three-wheeled carts can. Once the vehicles, of which there's not a great amount, but there's still a fair trickle on each side of the road, reach the circular area with the sound system, they slow down, then carefully navigate around the sound system placed oh so conveniently in the middle of the road, and weave their way past the dancers who seem to have a death wish.

Down the whole street, there are occasionally semi-circular sections on the side, where there are tai-chi lessons for little boys or dance lessons for the seniors of this village.

And there are bats. In London, we don't have bats, unless you go to a national park or something. So it was pretty exciting for me to see them, albeit not very clearly. There were loads, never stopping anywhere from what I could see, they were always flapping around. A bit like birds, when they haven't learnt how to fly yet, I'm guessing.

These night-time walks were the best. If someone would kill all the insects for me.

Yes, I hate insects, especially ones which either jump, fly, or move quickly. I especially don't like butterflies, because when they fly, they're so unpredictable, and when they land somewhere, they're still unpredictable. And they're bodies look disgusting without wings (I've seen some messed up stuff). And I also hate mosquitoes, but that's an obvious one. They love me though, or my blood, should I say.

Never did I ever think that I would hate crickets. Yes, they jump, and yes, they're just as unpredictable as butterflies, but they don't usually move unless you go near them. In England, where I live at least, the most you'll find is a midget grasshopper, and only when you go to an overgrown park. But on the night-time walks in China, it was impossible to not go near those huge crickets, whether it was dead or alive.

They were everywhere. Daytime, yeah great, there's none. But as soon as it get's dark, suddenly there's a whole swarm of them from god knows where! Every step you take, you have to check to make sure you don't step on one, or step on an already squished one. If there's anything I hate more about a bug, it's actually seeing them when they're dead and the insides are all squished against the ground with splats of insides around it.

And it's not just the ground you have to worry about, it's the air too. These insects can fly. They jump, they fly, and they can move quickly - my worst nightmare.

So, let me conclude this scene for you...

It's a beautiful street bustling with activity. Music, laughter, the sounds of dancing feet, ...and gross ugly crickets croaking away and crunching every few seconds as someone steps on one. There's no chance to properly take in your surroundings, as your too busy trying to duck out of the way of an incoming army of crickets.

Pure bliss.

I love y'all, and goodbye xxx

TEAM BUILDING ACTIVITIES DAY!

Hey, peepsicles! Sorry about not posting anything these last two days, on Tuesday (two days ago) I had a really fun day at school but was sadly too tired to write anything. As the title says, I had a whole day at school where we were in groups of around 15, and basically played a variety of games on the school field, which was supposed to help us work better as a team.

The first activity I did was the one which we ended up getting the most wet in, which wasn't fun at 9 o'clock is in the morning. But at least it was better than my friends who had it last, they had to get wet in the dirty water which had accumulated over the whole day...poor guys. It was fun, it was basically just an assault course with mini hurdles, agility pole things, a huge wet slippery slide, then finally an army net thingy which soldiers are supposed to craw under...I'm no good at explaining... Anyways, we not only had to do that, but we had to do it a few times whilst carrying a cup of water... Needless to say, we all got wet, cold and muddy. It was fun though anyways.

We next did a zorb racing activity (it was the small type though). That was really fun, my friend and I were an awesome team! She's quite small and skinny, so she literally completely curled up inside the ball, whereas everyone else had knees and feet sticking everywhere. Then I was the one pushing her around, and our job was to stop the other team from getting around the track. We were awesome, we did an amazing job, YOU SHALL NOT PASS! That was so fun! I'd never even been near zorb balls before, so that was exciting and new.

The next activity was a bit more boring...it was called the calculator game, where there were basically just cones with numbers on them, 1 to 15, and we had to go up in turn and tap the cone in order from 1 to 15... It was timed though and ended up getting really intense, so I guess that just shows that even the most boring-sounding games can be fun...ish...

Now the next two, I don't remember which one came first, but there was another assault course, and also a catapult-building game. This assault course was different though, this one was mainly focused on a jungle gym sort of inflatable. It was so fun, there's a little hole you go into, then there are these huge pillars you have to go around, a tall wall you have to climb, then jump or slide off the other side (which was really steep), horizontal rolling-car-cleaner-machine looking things, which you literally have to dive into, and finally to get out there's a thin gap you dive through too...all one after the other, smushed into a space the size of a bouncy castle... That one was my favourite I think, mainly because I've always loved those sort of things, and also because I actually felt like I was doing some exercise, which I really need to do...I'm getting way too lazy :/

The catapult building activity, well that one went horrifically. Using only a few items, we were supposed to make a catapult. We made it in the end (by copying the other team!) and then we had to use it to catapult eggs, whilst someone else has to catch the egg without it breaking! The other team went first, they went all out and got their catchers to go really far away, and they frickin caught their eggs! All three of them, caught by different catchers, were all caught! Then guess what happened when we tried it...yeah, none of them were caught, and the one that nearly was, it broke in the catcher's hand so it went all over her...oops. That was not a fun activity.

Wel anyways, moving on...the last activity was to use drain pipe sections, one each, to create a line for a ping pong ball to get to a flower pot on the ground on the other side of the area. There obviously wasn't enough of us to make a full line all the way there, so there was tons of running and screaming, it was crazy. That one was the one that required the most teamwork, not only because we were all shouting over each other, but also because whenever we lost control of the ball it would always roll off someone's drainpipe because no one was on the other side of that person, to carry on the line of drainpipes. Anyways, after the drainpipes, there was a hula hoop activity, then those dreaded skis which we always failed at in the practise runs. They're the ones which five people go on, and if only one person doesn't lift their foot up at the right time, the ski can't be lifted up at all. So yeah, teamwork was essential...something our team weren't that good at... Whilst doing that, the rocket builders had to start building the rocket. After everyone had finished, we pumped it up and the rocket went off! It was amazing, it went really high up, and the water that was inside the bottle of the rocket all came out over us. It was fun I guess, but mainly satisfying, seeing our rocket take off like that! Wacco! Bomb! Wizard! (In true Lord of the Flies spirit!)

So yeah, that was a really fun day. Sadly though it's only organised once, so there's no more team building activity days anymore for me, sad face. Oh well, at least I got to experience it, I guess.

Well, I've written tons, so I'm just going to go now before I start writing an essay, which by the way I had to do today for homework...800-1000 words on how Simon is presented in The Lord of the Flies...

Anyways, before I actually do write another essay for you guys (I wonder how many words this post has...) I'm just going to go...

Love y'all, bye! Xxx

COMIC CON MAY 2014!

Comic Con was so fricking amazing! It was so fun, so much to see, to buy, to do, and everything else comic/anime/manga/tv/film/gaming related!
I had to wake up at 6:15 am so that there would be time to get ready and dye my hair blue before leaving to meet my friends at 7:30 am. Although I kinda snoozed for about 15 minutes...so I ended up with a sort of streaked dip-dyed hair effect, only the ends of my ponytail were spray-dyed, and not done very well either. Anyways, at least I had a bit of blue in my hair! We arrived at the centre, ExCel centre in London, and after getting kinda lost we then had to wait in the queue for nearly an hour, in the rain.
Anyways enough about the boring stuff, let's move on. We got inside and I was so excited, there was so much to look at. There were so many people in cosplay too, including two of my friends, one as Castiel (Supernatural) and the other as Holly Short (Artemis Fowl). Whilst there, I freaked out, and decided to get photos with loads of cool cosplayers!
At Comic Con, I bought a few badges and an adorable Totoro hat! We wandered around, my friends and I, for about 6 hours! By the end, we were shattered and our feet and legs were aching so much, and we kept on having to stop and sit down. So at around 4pm, we decided to leave the amazingness of Comic Con and begin our journey home.
We took the underground and, as you know, I was really tired, so I was half falling asleep. This is embarrassing, but I was sitting next to a random woman, and I almost fell asleep on her shoulder! I literally leaned against her but luckily I think the carriage jolted, so I woke up suddenly and that was when I realised I was against someone's shoulder... Thank god it was only for a split second, and that woman got off at the next stop. She probably got off because she wanted to get away from me to be honest...oops lol.
Anyways, I'm really really really tired, so bye!! Xxx

HAVING FUN AT BOX HILL!

Hello, people of today!! So this post is just going to be about catching up with random things in my life that I may have missed telling you guys, and also about my day, obviously.
Today, I went to Box Hill. It's a pretty little area in the North Downs and there's a river which I nearly fell into:

Anyways, we spent a few hours there, it was so fun and so gorgeous! In my geography class, I'm going to be doing a 20 hour controlled assessment on it, so we'll see if that opinion changes or not. But yeah that was the main reason why I wanted to go there, and it was a chance for family bonding time!

Whilst on our little hike around Box Hill, we also saw tons of kids doing their Duke of Edinburgh expedition which brought back memories of when I did it. But I swear when my friends and I did it last year it was the worst time possible! The practise expedition we did was when it was basically snowing, and the the actual expedition was done on the hottest days of the year!
So that's what happened today!

TURKEY ADVENTURES DAY 7: THE END OF THE JOURNEY

Hello everyone, it's been a few days since I've written anything, and of course, I'm now back at home. I've just been way too tired to write anything on the last day of Turkey, then yesterday I was too busy getting things sorted out. But I'm back, and ready to tell you about the weird and wacky last day in Turkey!
The day started off with us having to get onto a coach which had been parked in the middle of a road...in busy traffic. It was a nightmare, there were four lanes and our coach was parked in the middle so we had to cross a lane to get onto the coach. This was in Istanbul so there were lots of cars honking at us, obviously getting annoyed that we were basically blocking two lanes... We also had our suitcases, which meant we had to load them into the coach before we could get on, which was terrifying because all of us were lined up squished against the coach whilst vehicles swerved around us. I think our teachers also aged about ten years during those ten minutes, poor them.
Once we had finally clambered onto the coach without being flattened by cars, we set off to go to the Sultanahmet, also known as the Blue Mosque. It is actually still used as a place of worship nowadays, so we had to wear head scarfs to cover our hair. The mosque is huge and so grand, it reminded me of a mosque version of Hogwarts a little bit. There were giant chandeliers that had candle-like lights in them which were hanging really low from the high domes of the ceiling, making them look like they were floating. Tons of people were there, the place was really crowded with tourists like us that is was nearly impossible to move without accidentally elbowing someone or stepping on someone's foot. At least no one was wearing shoes (shoes aren't allowed inside mosques).
Anyways, let's carry on. We then went to the Basilica Cistern, I think it's called. It's basically an underground lake, complete with fishes and an underground cafe. The whole place was supported by pillars and there were raised paths for tourists to walk around and explore the cistern. It was a really cool place, the lights made the dark place look kinda eerie and the droplets falling into the water made little dripping sounds now and then.
The last place we visited before leaving for the airport was the Hagia Sophia. I'm not really sure what it is, but I think it used to be a basilica, then a mosque, and now a museum. It's very confusing, it's kinda like three-in-one. It's a great building though, the ceiling is made of tiny mosaics and I think the floor and walls are marble. It's very impressive.
When we got to the airport, we had to say goodbye to our tour guide who stayed with us for the whole week. It was really sad, he was amazing and we all loved him. He asked us to write a little bit about how we found the trip because we wanted to make a memory book thingy to remember us - so cute!! Anyways, he's Turkish, but he did our tour thingy in English, even though he had self-taught it to himself and learnt it all in four years. As well as doing Russian and German tour-guiding too. He's so determined and clever! Imagine, learning three other languages and doing tours in those languages, when he probably isn't even 30 years old yet!!!
Ok, this paragraph is going to be weird and random. Basically, I don't really remember all this too well because it was a few days ago, but I have written it down. And what I wrote in my notebook was 'teacher'. So I wrote 'teacher' because one of my teachers (one of the more calm and sophisticated ones) swore. I don't remember why, but something terrible happened which made said teacher swear really quietly. Of course, being the half-nerds and goody two shoes my friends and I are, we were sitting at the front of the coach near the teachers and heard it... Lol, our reactions!! This teacher is always all sophisticated and collected, so we kind of just went silent and stared at each other, and of course pretended that we didn't hear. I dunno why I felt the need to mention this whole paragraph...I told you it was going to be random. I also feel kinda bad now...but I love my teacher, the lessons are amazing and everyone learns so much.
Well anyways after checking in our suitcases and getting through security, we were allowed some time to explore the shops. To me and my buddies, this was interpreted as 'go to Victoria's Secret and try on every single perfume they have'. Which is what we did. And omg they are amazing!!!!! I especially love Tease and Gold Angel - they smell amazing!!! We spritzed all over ourselves with Gold Angel and ended up smelling so strongly of it that it almost got too strong to bear. But it wasn't enough to put us off it. A few of us were almost going to buy it, but sadly it was in euros whereas we only had the Turkish lira. It was so fun, I'd never been to duty free with only friends before, so it was a great new experience. Usually, I'm with my parents who only care about getting to the boarding gate or buying a tax-free alcoholic drink. So I end up trailing behind them, wondering what the difference is between one vodka and the next.

Now we skip forward to the plane flight itself, which was very uneventful. They were playing 'The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty' which I only half focused on. I was too tired to do much anyway, I just sat back and relaxed, drinking coffee and tomato juice (not together though, bleugh). Of course, I ended up needing to go to the dreaded toilet. I found out after last week's flight that I wasn't the only one who hated those toilets, in fact, I was part of the majority. Ugh, I don't even want to talk about it anymore.
Skipping to a few hours later in which nothing much happened in between, I finally got back home at around 9:30 pm - ish. All I know is that it was really late and I was really tired, in Turkey I would have been sleeping at that time. I hate jet lag...
And that's all that happened on the last day of my adventures in Turkey. Overall, going to Turkey with my school and friends has been amazing. I've kinda just focused on the details of each day and haven't really mentioned how the trip was as a whole. It was so fun and a nice break from schoolwork and upcoming tests which I now have to worry about. The teachers who came with us were so organised and kinda cute in a way. I guess it's because usually, I see them as strict people who don't have a life, but this trip has shown me that they're so sweet and are actually capable of doing other things such as joking around and playing on the beach with us (we buried one of our teachers alive with only his head sticking out)! Even though this last week has been tiring for all of us, we've all kept ourselves together and made the most out of this trip.

TURKEY ADVENTURES DAY 5: APHRODISIAS AND HIERAPOLIS

Hello people!!! Today I'm really tired, so it's gonna be a really quick post with lots of random pictures. First, we went to Aphrodisias, a little ancient city famous for being one of the best preserved and also for its marble. There was a museum there which we went to briefly which had tons of marble statues of nude men in it, and they're labelled 'man without toga with bare chest'...so much imagination (note the sarcasm).
And then on the coach we learnt French pick-up lines from our Latin teacher...awkward much... And funny at the same time! We also 'stargazed' with the flies which were dotted around on our windows...pretending that they were star constellations and trying to name them...we are weird.
Next we went to Hierapolis which is the 'sacred city', and frankly, it wasn't as exciting. We did get to see the entrance to the underworld, or the 'Plutonium', which was kinda cool I guess. Well, it was all fun, just some parts were more interesting than others. There are also thermal baths there which look totally amazing, that sounds weird, but it really was amazing. We were allowed to put our feet inside one of the shallow baths and we all linked hands because it's slippery. It was so fun, I loved it so much!!!
At the new hotel we arrived in today, which is a really nice 4-star, we had the most awesome dinner (buffet, like all the other dinners and lunches we've had so far, except for lunch today). We were all so stuffed after the mountain of food we all got, then the massive pudding volcano we ate/wasted-because-it-was-too-sickly. To wash that down, we ate 10 oranges in total. Between the 6 of us. According to my friends who got the oranges, everyone else was giving them REALLY weird looks... XD

This picture is of the clocks in the hotel reception this morning before we were leaving...just think, if that's the time we were leaving (Kusadasi clock), imagine when we had to wake up... Well, I'll tell you, we had to wake up at 6am!!!! Way too early!!!

TURKEY ADVENTURES DAY 4: EPHESUS AND THE BEACH

Hellooooo everybody!!!!! Today has been so fun!!! OMG the best day ever!!!! Today, we first went to Ephesus, an ancient city (now just ruins) which is nicknamed 'The Gateway To Asia'. And it was fun-ish, it was a bit boring because there were just rocks and columns everywhere, but it was still fun. Though it was way too hot and sunny, so I was literally burning...
At lunch, which was at a really nice hotel restaurant and was very very yummy, we also got a chance to buy some touristy stuff. I bought two bracelets and I just absolutely LOVE the neon colours!!

Next, we went to the Temple of Artemis...it's basically just one column. At least, that's what it is now. Before, it would have been an amazingly huge temple with hundreds of columns. And it's one of the 7 wonders of the ancient world, which is kinda cool.

But that's not what got me all hyped up - it's the fact that we got to go to the beach!!! It was AWESOME!!! My friends and I built a sphinx out of the sand, which was really cool but the head looked kinda odd. Still, it was quite big and looked cute! At first, we were going to make all the 7 wonders of the ancient world e.g. the great pyramids of Giza. But then we gave up. It was so fun though!

TURKEY ADVENTURES DAY 3: RUINS AND GETTING LOST

Hey guys!!!! I haven't got much time today, I'm in the hotel in my friends' larger room and we're just talking and playing and stuff so I'm kinda being antisocial by sitting here blogging. And anyways today we haven't really done anything interesting, just looked at various ruins which all look the same, and are basically huge slabs of rock scattered around everywhere... Anyways, we're in Kusadasi, and all the places we went to today are all nearby, sooo... Also, we got lost so much, the places we went to were new places for the tour guide and our teachers, so we were literally walking through random places, and having to go all the way around a random lake or something. Anyways, here are some pics of today!!
