Best Birthday

Christmas countdown: 2 days!

Hiya!

I had a pyjama party yesterday for my (and my friend's) birthday, and it was amazing!

We went to Nando's first for lunch (though not in our pyjamas, they probably would've kicked us out!), then went over to my friend's house to open presents. And they are the best!

Someone handmade for me a little mochi plushy, and another gave me a bangle with a quote from The Song of Achilles engraved on it. All my presents were so lovely and well thought out - you can't find better friends than mine!

We then watched Home Alone, which I had never seen before. Shocking, I know. Thing is, I don't really like older films and classics, I much prefer recent ones such as Arthur Christmas and Nativity (both of which I have watched recently in the build-up to Christmas). It's a good film though, very funny and cute.

After we played charades and lounged around, too full from the chocolate fountain, crisps, and ice-cream we'd eaten :D

It was so fun, every part of the day.

Merry Christmas, ya filthy animal!

Surprise Party was a SUCCESS!!

Hiya!

For weeks now, my friends and I have been planning a surprise birthday party for our friend.

And it was a complete success! Through lying, hiding, sneaking around and awkward moments, we threw an amazing party which she had absolutely no clue about! :)

I've never thrown a party like this before, and it made me feel so grown up. There was so much organising that we had to do - we created a collage of photos which we had to stalk her for, bought food and decorations, baked a birthday cake, and even planned exactly how we were going to get her to come and how exactly we were going to surprise her. Which took a lot of hardcore pen-on-paper, drawing out a blueprint, and practising to perfect ;)

And we made her a present of 'open when...' cards, because she refused to accept gifts, although "cards were okay". We all wrote a few cards ourselves, and also did some group ones.

She'd better not cheat and open them at the wrong times!!

On the day of the party, we set out the snacks and decorated the room with banners and balloons (we even hung them from the lights). We got cameras ready, got into our positions and when she arrived...we jumped out at her with party poppers!

It was fantastic.

And we spent the rest of the day dancing and singing like we were drunk, even though all we'd had was J2O...

It was so fun! And amazing, and awesome, and brilliant!

Work Experience, Vaccinations and Another Birthday

Hiya!

I finished my work experience! I was at my dentist's for the last two weeks, just sitting in the corner and observing since I'm not allowed to do anything. But it was so good, and I loved it. The staff are so kind and lovely, they're like my new second family. I'm kinda sad that it's over.

Anyway, more on work experience in another post.

Also today, I had the first jab of three for the HPV vaccination. So I don't get cervical cancer when I have sex, which will not be in a loooooooong time. At the time it only stung a little bit, but now it aches like hell, and I really just want to rip my arm off :(

And happy birthday to another one of my friends! She had a party in which twenty or so of her friends were invited, and I don't know the majority of them as they're all older. But I sort of just went over to give her her present and ended up staying for four hours. It was awkward at first, but then I got to know some of them and it was really fun. One of them even hugged me when she left even though she barely talked to me...but I think she was a bit hyper...

Took me by surprise, is all.

So, I literally spent the whole day outside today, from 8:30 in the morning to go to work experience until 8:30 in the evening coming back from my friend's house.

And I'm now exhausted.

Birthday Celebrations and Peterborough Adventures

Hiya!

The next few posts are going to be in a strange order. I've got events from over two weeks ago to write about (and most probably bore you with), but if I do them in chronological order I won't be able to talk to you about the most recent stuff, which I feel are the most important. It makes me think we can connect more if I talk about things that happened a few hours ago rather than a few weeks ago... I don't know, it might just be me.

But I do want to tell you about my past weeks because they've been really fun and exciting. Though at this rate, with all this blabbering, I won't even be able to finish this post...

Today is my friend's birthday! We celebrated yesterday by shopping and having dinner in a restaurant which played We Are Young four times in 2 1/2 hours. Good song, but a bit too much maybe?

Though the restaurant's obsession with that song was nothing compared to the 'classiness'  of our eating. We had straws in wine glasses, knives in sundaes, and the remaining content of our mocktails tipped into various empty bowls to try to reach the blueberries.

We were dining like cavemen. Thank goodness there was no one around except the waitress, even though I think it was us ourselves who were responsible for keeping the people away. 

Anyway, as well as it being my friend's birthday, I also went to Peterborough today with my parents. Just a day trip, adventuring in another city. The journey was long and not so pleasant, to be honest.  There was an incident with our train tickets and a couple of terribly rude men, which nearly resulted in us having to turn back. But we didn't do anything wrong, so whatever.

In Peterborough, we did loads of shopping, had dinner in Pizza Express and explored the city's cathedral. We weren't allowed inside, but it was really pretty from the outside regardless.

VISITING CAMBRIDGE

Hiya!

It was my dad's birthday yesterday - we celebrated by having dinner and buying him a cake. It wasn't much, just a family and close friends thing.

I also went to Cambridge today, specifically Corpus Christi College. We took the coach there, which took a few hours. Most of it was spent talking about the clouds or discussing how, to me, Cambridge is classical music whereas Oxford is dubstep. I don't know why. But every time someone mentions 'Cambridge', I have the image of a string quartet playing Pachelbel's Canon in a giant hall.

Once we had arrived, we were split into two groups for lectures. There were only twenty of us, so two groups of ten - one group listening to the biology lecture (which I was in) and one group listening to history. We had a one hour lecture about cancer, which could've been a little more interesting... The history people got to look at real ancient Greek and Latin manuscripts, and the real signatures of King Henry VIII and Elizabeth I. Lucky them!

We then had lunch in the main hall. It was amazing. It felt awesome because it reminded me of the main hall in Hogwarts, with the chandeliers and long wooden tables, but at the same time I felt like I was eating lunch in a church or cathedral, so it kinda felt wrong. And loads of Cambridge students stared at us, but it was alright.

After lunch, we had a tour around the college. There was a funeral going on, however, so there were loads of people and we had to be quiet. After, we spent the last few hours getting a chance to ask questions to a few undergraduates, which was cool.

We left the college then and walked a little bit to see a special clock which has a giant 'time-eater' bug on it. And we waited for it to turn 3 o'clock so we could hear the rattling of chains, which represents the sound of a coffin being lowered into the ground. Dark, eh?

Anyways, after that, we ran back to the coach and headed back home.

Overall, a very fun trip (made fun by my friends too - it would probably have been more boring without them) and a wonderful experience. It was a great opportunity.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVE!

Hi there!

It was my birthday yesterday.

I went up to London - first to go see a Potted Sherlock theatre production, which was alright, and then to the V&A museum to see a Horst photographer exhibition. In between, some fancy Chinese in Chinatown. It was scrummy :)

Anyways, I said I was going to do that update yesterday, but I was too tired by the end of the day so...you know...I kinda just...well...

Left it.

So yeah!

It's Christmas tomorrow! SANTAAAAAAAA!

I'm excited :D

WINTER WONDERLAND ADVENTURES!

Hello! Yes, I have turned one year older today. I feel accomplished.

I haven't updated too much recently, but a lots been happening.

On the 21st, I went to Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park with friends to celebrate an early birthday. It was so fun - we spent the morning on rides, the afternoon eating as unhealthily as we could, including churros, waffles, candy-floss, marshmallows dipped in chocolate fountains, and hot chocolate.

We then spent the rest of the day staring at pretty things in the stalls. I bought a turquoise skull bracelet and a hat/headband faux fur thingy. Both my friend and I bought it, to celebrate our matching birthdays.

Winter Wonderland was tiring, but totally worth the rushing and early-ish wake up.

Yesterday, I stayed at home, alone, and watched Skydoesminecraft on YouTube. I then watched two Christmas films: The Nightmare Before Christmas and Arthur Christmas.

The Nightmare Before Christmas was cute, but too Halloweeny for the Christmas holidays, in my opinion. Arthur Christmas was adorable and made me cry, but that doesn't say much.

I cried when watching The Big Bang Theory so...

Anyways, this is getting really long, and today has yet to be completed. So I'll talk to y'all in a few more hours, with updates on today.
