Hotel Chocolat: Christmas Wreath Box

Hiya!

I was given this box of chocolates for Christmas, and needless to say, I've been stuffing my face in it every day. I think the main thing that stands out is how gorgeous it all looks, both the packaging and the chocolates themselves.

So, let your eyes feast on this!

 - pun intended ;)

There was a bow...but I untied it in my frenzy to get to the chocolates before taking the photos...
Also sorry about the poor quality of some of these images, they were taken on my phone :/

I hope Santa came and was generous, and you stuffed yourself to the brim with yummy food.

And I hope you've spent some quality time with friends and family.

Christmas Eve

Hiya!

Merry Christmas Eve! Are you all looking forward to tomorrow?

I'm so excited!

(Mostly for the TV though, let's be honest...)

I've been listening to Christmas music all day today, prepping myself for tomorrow's craziness. Sadly we won't be having that White Christmas, just rain and wind here :(

Well, hope you're all having a jolly time!

Best Birthday

Christmas countdown: 2 days!

I'm so excited!!

Hiya!

I had a pyjama party yesterday for my (and my friend's) birthday, and it was amazing!

We went to Nando's first for lunch (though not in our pyjamas, they probably would've kicked us out!), then went over to my friend's house to open presents. And they are the best!

Someone handmade for me a little mochi plushy, and another gave me a bangle with a quote from The Song of Achilles engraved on it. All my presents were so lovely and well thought out - you can't find better friends than mine!

We then watched Home Alone, which I had never seen before. Shocking, I know. Thing is, I don't really like older films and classics, I much prefer recent ones such as Arthur Christmas and Nativity (both of which I have watched recently in the build-up to Christmas). It's a good film though, very funny and cute.

After we played charades and lounged around, too full from the chocolate fountain, crisps, and ice-cream we'd eaten :D

It was so fun, every part of the day.

Undertale Obsession

Christmas countdown: 4 days!

Good news! I've sorted out everything for Christmas - presents have been wrapped, cards are written, tree up, decorations scattered - come at me, Christmas!

Hiya!

I spent the whole day yesterday watching Jacksepticeye play Undertale, an absolutely amazing indie RPG. They're one-hour long videos, and I'd watched a few episodes before, but I basically binged through the rest of it in seven hours. Seven hours non-stop.

Undertale is sooooo good! It's so easy to become in love with the characters and the jokes are hilarious. There's a certain charm in the little pixelated characters with their signature sound effects and font that draws you in and forms a bond with you (I mean, we all ship Alphyne now, don't we?).

Take Undyne, the strongest, bravest, coolest of them all (and my favourite character). It's hard not to like her, she's got the sass and the attitude to go right along with her impressive strength and kindness. She also reminds me of Chloe Price from Life is Strange in a way, she's tough and hard to get through to, but once she's your friend she'll fight for you all the way.

And it's not just the characters that are amazing, there are all these secrets if you go back, or do something again. The game as a whole is so cleverly thought out, and even though I myself haven't played it, it's one of my favourite games.

I spent at least 45 minutes bawling my eyes out (Jacksepticeye even shed a tear or two) at one point, though grinning like the Chesire Cat soon after. I need to play it myself!

Undertale is the best.

Christmas Lights

Christmas countdown: 5 days!

Soooooo close!

Hiya!

One of my favourite things about Christmas is the lights. The way they make houses look so magical... I love seeing the different colours, and when there's a gorgeous arrangement (such as lights wrapped around fences, which you'll be seeing a lot of!) I just want to stay staring at them forever.

Also, you have no idea how hard it is to take photos at night without a tripod, in the rain.

Or maybe you do. Maybe it's a hobby of yours...

Oh well, enjoy!

Aperture - f/4, Exposure - 1/30 sec, ISO - 800

It's a bush, by the way. I know, terrible photo...but can we just take a moment to admire these colours?

My favourite :)

For those interested, I painted my nails recently.

Don't stare at my claws for too long - they will haunt you in your sleep!

The purple colour I used is No7's Stay Perfect in Damson Dream. It's a very rich plum colour (I found out today that a damson is a fruit similar to a plum), and it's beautiful.

A Photo Diary

Christmas countdown: 12 days!

Hiya!

I pulled together some photos that I've taken in the past week, and I thought, why not present to you my week through a photo diary?

Here goes...

The Ikea chimneys against a gloomy British sky - a delightful start!

Mind The Gap

Christmas countdown: 17 days!

Do you like the snowflakes? I added them after my last post :)
I wanted something wintry as my posts aren't going to be festive until closer to Christmas, and I thought they were just too cute.

I'm starting to get into the Christmas spirit now :D

I went to Ikea yesterday and bought three packs of tealights (30 pack), and more fairy lights!

I've got a crazy obsession with candles, and it's escalated...

But hey, it's the build-up to Christmas, everyone's going a bit crazy now!

Hiya!

I learnt a dance to 'Me Ol' Bamboo' from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang yesterday for an audition (which I don't think went that well, but it was very fun anyway). I had the song in my head today though and I've no doubt annoyed everyone I've been in the same room with.

Well, carrying on!

Here's today's photo for you to ponder at:

It's a fairly recent one, but I'm very impressed with this - for a photo taken on my phone...

I used a filter, you can probably tell, though I tend to stay away from them. This one makes everything warmer and increases the contrast between light and dark, so even though it was cloudy and it had just rained, it appears as if the sun is shining and everything is golden.

The light in this is gorgeous, I just love the glowing platform and tracks.

Trafalgar Square

Christmas countdown: 19 days!

The fairy lights went up a few days ago, and candles are being burnt! However, a HORROR - I still don't have a Christmas tree!! How have I allowed this to happen? D:

Also, shall I do something Christmassy on here? I haven't really been doing much in the lead up to Christmas, but watching vloggers such as Zoella with her 'Vlogmas' videos makes me wish my life was more exciting. And also wish I could be as cool and gorgeous as her...

Well, I guess when I'm in a more festive spirit, the posts will come along too :P

Hiya!

Another photo, this one of Trafalgar Square, London.

Aperture: f/8, Exposure: 1/320 sec, ISO: 100

To be honest, I'm not so sure about this one - it's not as cool as it had the potential to be...

But, I love the fact that Big Ben is slotted between Nelson's Column and the building on the left, and it's right in the middle of the photo. The handrail leads down towards it - a lead line (and here the photography term comes out) drawing your attention.

Flock of Leaves

Christmas countdown: 22 days!

Hiya!

It's finally December - the most cheerful month! With Christmas coming up (and my birthday), I'm already super excited for the holidays.

Lights will need to go up, presents bought, parties planned...

But in the meantime, how about some birds eh?

This was taken in front of the Centre Pompidou in Paris when a flock of birds (pigeons?) flew overhead. There were loads of them, all lifting off at the same time and flying in circles around the area in front of the museum.

I love the way the birds blend in and merge with the leaves, it makes me imagine that the leaves are transforming into them and flying away.

Or vice versa...

And I decided on black and white for this photo as it highlights the silhouettes, and hey, it looks cooler ;)

QI Event & London Christmas Lights

Hiya!

I went to a Waterstones event a few days ago, at the great Piccadilly store. It was a QI talk, where John Lloyd (the founder of QI) and the QI Elves told us about the idea of the show, how it started, what they do, and gave us a sneak preview of facts from the next series 'N'. There was also an audience quiz, a guy won the prize of various items of cool merch.

It was really fun!

I got a book - 1,234 QI Facts to Leave You Speechless - and had it signed by Lloyd and almost all the Elves.

After the event, my friends and I browsed the books, squealing and sighing over the gorgeous clothbound classics (they looked gorgeous).

We're such nerds ;)

Anyway, we decided (at 9:30 pm, mind) to take a long route to the Underground so that we could see the Christmas lights on Regent Street and Oxford Street.

It was well worth it.

I like this one :)

Heehee, couldn't resist :P
