Drawing of a Girl

Hiya!
Well, I have no idea what I'm doing now...

I kinda drew this roughly one morning just after waking up, and now it's getting put on here.

Why?

I dunno.

It's not even a proper drawing, and it certainly isn't good. I can't draw, and I'm not being humble in the slightest.

But anyway, this was the morning after I went to all those galleries and museums in London. I saw a pretty girl that day on the underground and felt like drawing her.

She had pale blue-grey eyes (the piercing type), short hair, and the most amazing cheekbones. Kinda looked boyish too, which I couldn't get right in my drawing.

Anyway, this is very different (lol I even downloaded an app just to draw this!) and I don't know if you can expect more...

Surprise Party was a SUCCESS!!

Hiya!

For weeks now, my friends and I have been planning a surprise birthday party for our friend.

And it was a complete success! Through lying, hiding, sneaking around and awkward moments, we threw an amazing party which she had absolutely no clue about! :)

I've never thrown a party like this before, and it made me feel so grown up. There was so much organising that we had to do - we created a collage of photos which we had to stalk her for, bought food and decorations, baked a birthday cake, and even planned exactly how we were going to get her to come and how exactly we were going to surprise her. Which took a lot of hardcore pen-on-paper, drawing out a blueprint, and practising to perfect ;)

And we made her a present of 'open when...' cards, because she refused to accept gifts, although "cards were okay". We all wrote a few cards ourselves, and also did some group ones.

She'd better not cheat and open them at the wrong times!!

Strawberries and cream cake :)

On the day of the party, we set out the snacks and decorated the room with banners and balloons (we even hung them from the lights). We got cameras ready, got into our positions and when she arrived...we jumped out at her with party poppers!

It was fantastic.

And we spent the rest of the day dancing and singing like we were drunk, even though all we'd had was J2O...

It was so fun! And amazing, and awesome, and brilliant!

Saatchi Gallery and British Museum Exhibitions

Hiya!

I went to London yesterday, there are a few exhibitions going on which seemed interesting.

First was the Chanel Mademoiselle Prive exhibition in the Saatchi Gallery. It's about Gabrielle Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld, and Haute Couture fashion, such as diamonds and the Chanel No5 perfume.

It was very interesting (very sparkly and 'fabricy'), and I got a free tote bag out of it :) The queue to go in, however, had me waiting for over an hour outside.

I then went to the British Museum, to check out two exhibitions - the first being 'Drawing in silver and gold'. It had drawings from artists such as Leonardo da Vinci and took you through the various styles of metalpoint drawings in different eras and countries.

I must say, though it sounds uninteresting, the drawings themselves had so much detail and attention put into them, it was hard not to be amazed by the fine lines and strokes, that apparently were hard to erase and so the artists had to have the whole thing planned out beforehand. So much effort!

The second exhibition was on the Celts, called 'Celts: art and identity'. It was alright, there was a lot of bronze and gold jewellery ('torcs' I learned, was the name they gave to bands around the neck) which was cool to look at.

However, at this point I think I'd had enough of exhibitions, so I quickly scanned the artefacts without reading about them in much detail. It was a massive exhibition anyway.

After I went to Chinatown for dinner and had the biggest dessert ever which I came to regret. It was a spontaneous decision; I had no idea what was in the dessert and no idea how big it would be. It tasted good at first, but I think the mixture of not knowing what I was eating and being too stuffed from the main put me off it quite quickly.

Ah well, photos will be up soon, once I get them onto my computer :)

P.S. Guess what? I just realised it's been exactly a year since my last post about the Chinese Ming Dynasty exhibition in the British Museum! What a coincidence, the exact date...I guess these exhibitions all occur at the same time each year...

Wow my writing style has changed...(!)

Nails!

Hiya!

Little known fact here, I love painting my nails. I'm not very good at painting my own (my right hand is proof of this!) and hardly have the time, but whenever I can, I'll go straight to my nail polishes.

And so, I painted my nails today!

I used No7 Stay Perfect in Totally Teal, and a slight accent nail using a coat of Technic Nail Varnish in Treasure Chest over the top.

By the way, I don't look after my hands and nails very well, so please excuse the stains, scratches, massive cuticles and dry skin!

Battle of Ideas 2015!

Hiya!

This is a bit late, sorry :(

I went to the Battle of Ideas Festival in London on the 18th October. It's a 'festival' weekend of debates, on topics such as feminism, world problems, technology and all sorts.

I went on Sunday and went to five debates. They were all very interesting - I loved the style of the debates, as there were audience interactions, where rather than just listening to the speakers, the audience could pose their own questions and share their opinions.

The speakers themselves were mostly very passionate about their topics, and you could tell if they were or not. In the last debate I went to, though I was shattered, I really enjoyed it as two of the speakers were so passionate, they had heated discussions/rants when they weren't supposed to be talking, and had to be told multiple times by the chair to be quiet.

And at the end of the day, there was a closing party with free drinks (only beer and water though) in the conservatory, which had been decorated with fairy lights and archways.

It was really fun :)

Anyway, enough ranting - here are some photos:

The empty streets of London at an ungodly time in the morning

So pretty!

Ok, I know it's weird, but you can't deny they're nice toilets...

And finally, something completely random, these are the flowers I got for my dentist :)

Nothingness

Hiya!

Did I decide on a deep and potentially meaningful title to draw you into reading my blog?

Maybe

Did it work?

Well I don't know

Let me tell you, my life has been a lazy 'bleurgh' recently.

Has anything interesting happened since I've been away from here?

Yep, I've been doing a few different things...

Have I written about them?

Nope

Am I guilty?

Sure

Laziness and procrastination - horrible things that I have yet to overcome

During my hiatus, things have happened:
  1. I watched Cinderella (the 2015 film) - it was alright, though the beginning dragged on a bit too much
  2. I stood in the middle of a field for one and a half hours, on a dangerously thin plank of wood placed on dangerously thin metal framing, for a photo
  3. I'm starting to learn the wonderful and exciting Ancient Greek, the language of Patroclus and Achilles, my babies (read The Song of Achilles is you haven't and have your heart dance every time they're mentioned <3)
  4. I visited a university open day and gained a tote bag, wristband, pens, and a stress ball out of it. A purple 'business and management' stress ball...jealousy doesn't look good on you... ;)
  5. A strange and terrifying discovery was made - there's a restaurant in Chinatown which my friend and I were considering eating at...until we realised that to go in, you had to knock on the black door with a massive knocker, and after entering, the door would be locked behind you... Creepy D:
  6. I learnt a part of the actual 'Man Up' dance sequence in Book of Mormon, taught by a professional dancer who's currently in the shows, and I loved every second of this experience
  7. I started volunteering at a local nursing home, which has some very interesting characters...
So yeah, 'things have happened' indeed.

And obviously, the daily updates by moi are not a thing anymore... :/

There's a difficult balance between wanting to give you good content but having you wait a while, or giving you considerably less good content but uploading every day.

Hmm, I'll think about it

Welcome To Night Vale Photos!

Hiya!

Finally lol...

Better late than never, I guess :)

Excuse the horrible phone camera quality, please! It's shameful :(

I've tried my best with editing but some things just don't want to cooperate...

Fabulous, 100%

It was a really amazing night <3
